Wolfgang Stumpf graduated from the HTL Pinkafeld, Department of Building Services Engineering, and subsequently studied architecture at the Vienna University of Technology. Already during his studies he gained experience in various offices for building services engineering and architectural offices. According to the method of integral planning he planned numerous single and multi-family houses, administration buildings, and developed a construction system for energy and ecology optimized buildings. Since 2008, Wolfgang Stumpf has been teaching at various technical colleges and universities in the field of buildings and energy. In his practice- and research-led teaching, he teaches the holistic balancing of climate-neutral buildings and leads the course "Multi-storey timber hybrid construction" at the Danube University Krems.
Since 2010 he has been working on and leading projects on Nearly Zero Energy Buildings, alternative building technology, building energy concepts, energy efficiency measures, holistic assessment of costs and ecology over the life cycle at Forschung Burgenland, the Austrian Energy Agency, Danube University Krems and together with architectural and engineering firms and other research institutions.
In 2014, he initiated and managed "klimaaktiv Bauen & Sanieren", the sustainability initiative of the Austrian Federal Ministry for Climate Protection, for the province of Burgenland.
In his dissertation, he is deepening his knowledge on topics such as thermal behavior of historic buildings, climate-friendly construction, natural ventilation and cooling, and thermal user comfort. He publishes and presents the results at international scientific conferences.
Since 2018, he has been involved in working groups of the IG Lebenszyklus Bau.
Wolfgang Stumpf has been an employee at e7 energy innovation & engineering since January 2022. He deals with construction and energy, climate neutral buildings and neighborhoods, life cycle costs and life cycle assessment, building certification and refurbishment concepts, holistic accounting of climate neutral buildings. And he likes to contribute to a climate-friendly and livable future.
