Walter Hüttler studied cultural engineering and water management at the University of Natural Resources and Applied Life Sciences in Vienna and subsequently worked in a civil engineering office in the fields of groundwater management and waste management. As an assistant and lecturer at the Institute for Interdisciplinary Research and Further Education of the University of Vienna, Department of Social Ecology, he worked on the development of the material flow calculation for Austria. From March 2001 to August 2007 he worked for the Austrian Energy Agency and was last responsible for the climate-active programme wohnmodern. Walter Hüttler is the author of numerous publications on environmental and energy policy topics as well as a regular speaker at conferences and training events.
Since September 2007 he is partner of e7 Energie Markt Analyse GmbH. Walter Hüttler is occupied mainly with the following topics: Energy efficiency in buildings (focus on residential buildings), energy and climate policy instruments in the building sector (EU directives, housing promotion, building regulations, energy performance certificate), energy industry issues in connection with the implementation of the Austrian climate strategy.
