Gerhard Hofer studied construction planning and construction management at the Joanneum University of Applied Sciences in Graz and at the Vienna University of Technology. From 2004 to the beginning of 2008 Gerhard Hofer worked as a research assistant at the Austrian Energy Agency. Since April 2008 he has been working for e7 energy innovation & engineering and is responsible for research.
Gerhard Hofer deals with energy-efficient and climate-friendly buildings and neighbourhoods. His focus is on integral energy concepts for buildings and neighbourhoods up to plus energy balancing, holistic and sustainable concepts for the refurbishment of buildings, the analysis of the life cycle costs of buildings and energy systems and technical-economic support in the allocation of energy systems. He contributes his experience in the implementation of national laws in the field of energy (in particular in the context of the Building Directive) to international projects.
