Passive House Academy
Knowledge Transfer Between Building Developers

Project description:

In recent years the realization of passive and lowest energy houses in Austria has been pushed by political targets. A wide variety of know-how has been collected during the planning, construction and operation of these buildings. However there are remarkably diverging attitudes to different tasks – like extra costs for the planning and constructing or additional charges for maintenance and repair – from the building developers, real estate agencies and even planning offices regarding the possibilities and limits for the construction of large volume residential in lowest energy and passive house standard.

The "Passive house for the future academy" offered a Knowledge transfer by creating a moderated and guided exchange of experience between the know-how holders. Pioneers and newcomers were trained in intensive workshops and got the chance to turn into professional passive house planers, while learning from each other's experiences.

The intimate, non-public framework of the workshops promoted an open discussion. The results from the Austria-wide workshops were documented and published in specific “technical bulletins” for management board, planners, marketing and facility management
