New project on EPBD implementation in Moldova

In the framework of the programme EU4Energy the Energy Community Secretariat (ECS) contracted e7 for the assessment of the EPBD implementation in Moldova. The focus of the project lies on the development of minimum energy performance requirements and the respective calculation methodology, the energy performance certificate, inspection of heating and ventilation systems and the installation of a building stock inventory. The aim of the project is to describe the current state and to define a road map for remaining activities in the EPBD implementation.

Quality criteria for energy efficiency services

e7 as coordinator has started together with eleven partners the European project QualitEE. Quality criteria will be developed and quality assurance schemes will be implemented, that will grow investment in Energy Efficiency Services in the building sector.

Benefits are

  • Common understanding of 'good quality' leads to improvement in service quality
  • Better informed investors, increased transparency and trust will expedite investment decisions
  • Increased standardisation allows for investment aggregation to reduce the cost of finance

New project for cost-optimal regeneration heat for geothermal probes

The transformation of heat supply to renewable energy source in urban settlements is inevitable. In the case of energy concepts with heat pumps and geothermal probes, heat is extracted from the soil. In the long term this can lead to less efficiency or damage. For this reason, a heat balance for geothermal probes should be established.

The ecoRegeneration project examines various options (waste heat from non-residential uses such as supermarkets or data centres, additional installation of heat-supply systems) for regeneration of the geothermal fields, outlines possible business models and evaluates the heat cost of all solutions. The results should be presented in a kind of "merit order" for regeneration heat.

Successful completion of Transparense project

The goal of the IEE project Transparense was the stimulation of Energy Performance Contracting (EPC) markets throughout Europe.

For this reason e7, together with DECA, has carried out pioneer work and developed quality criteria for energy efficiency services. You can find more information in our Video about the Code of Conduct for EPC.

The project has been closed as of September 2015.

e7 successfully conducted the 2nd national workshop on heat use in Salzburg, Austria

On 3 and 4 December 2014, the 10th Austrian Biogas Congress was held at WIFI Salzburg – Biogas14. This popular meeting for stakeholders of the biogas sector was organized by the Austrian Compost & Biogas Association, with support from klimaaktiv, the climate initiative of the Austrian Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, Environment and Water Management. About 400 visitors attended to the congress.

e7 conducted a whole session on heat use. The session was very successful as about 90 persons attended to the workshop!

Call for Applications of the GreenBuilding Integrated Design Award

Integrated Design (ID) is a design procedure that considers the building as a whole system with the aim of optimizing it throughout the lifecycle. ID can be used to reach high ambitions by developing, discussing and evaluating a scheme using a multidisciplinary team from the initial design phases. ID is a proven approach for achieving high-performance buildings with good indoor environment, without sacrificing architectural quality or result in excessive costs.

The GreenBuilding Integrated Design Award (GB ID Award) aims at highlighting outstanding ID processes. This is a continuously open call. Each year an evaluation committee will assess all applications arriving before 1 March. The best applications for each year will be awarded in the frame of a European high-level conference.

Please consult the Website aboue Integrated Design for further information.

We have also prepared a flyer for information in brief.

e7 coordinates the Europe-wide project MaTrID

For the very first time e7 coordinates an IEE-project, which is financed by the European Commission. MaTrID aims to support the implementation of Nearly Zero Energy Buildings by 2020. In this context the building design phase is of particular importance. Integrated Energy Design (IED) is a valuable approach to reduce the complexity of the design process and facilitate the interactions between the members of the design team. IED allows them to provide the best solution for the whole building. More information concerning the project and integrated design can be found here.
